Dutch Hollow, Midway
(Mountain Bout substitute for Snowbird)
Saturday July 2, 2011Because Snowbird was
still buried under this past winter's heavy snow, the Mountain Bout was
moved to the trail system at Dutch Hollow. A fun 7.5-mile loop featured
creek dips and twisting tight singletrack in the trees. Fun stuff under
sunny skies. UMB had first-place finishes by Darren Stirland, Denmark
Jensen, Jay Griffin, and Joel Quinn. Second-place winners were Aaron
Johnson and Ian Beaty.

The UMB team enjoyed a fairly good turnout of
racers at Dutch Hollow. Thanks to all who came to this fun race! In the
team competition, Mad Dog had more racers and posted more points. They
broadened their season lead. With two races to go, it would take a big UMB
turnout at both of the remaining races to win the championship. It's
do-able, though -- at Five Mile Pass, UMB's margin of victory was around
100 points. See you at Solitude in a couple of weeks! More pictures:
