It was a beautiful sunny day at Sundance. Yesterday's rain put the right amount of moisture into the trail. It started to dry out toward the last lap, but dust wasn't a problem. Very fun riding on a great trail system. The sunshine lasted until the award ceremony, with the thunderstorms moving in after the cleanup. The UMB team had first place finishes by Derek Ransom, Jared Muir, Jay Griffin, and Justin Griffin. Second-place wins were scored by Hunter Ransom, Dallin Johnson, Randy Croall, and Ryan Payne.

The course had sharp turns up and down the damp grass
near the lift, then bumped down the stairs to a paved path
by the river. 

Right:  Jakob Haderlie posts a turn around the course
cone as he nails a solid 3rd place for this race.
Riders made five laps around the loop.

Left:  Baylor Payne leans into a turn as he cranks over the
grass under the Sundance lift, taking a nice finish at 7th place.

Right:  Aiden Thayer hammers down as he sprints for
the finish line in his last lap, grabbing the 12th place
spot for 9-and-under.

Sydney Nielsen cruises toward the next
turn and takes the 21st place spot.

Rachel Sparks heads across the
grass toward 22nd place.

Left:  Brayden Nielsen hurries down the Boneyard Trail
on the way to taking the 5th place finish in 10-12. The
12-and-under racers did two laps around a course that
climbed steeply uphill on the main race loop, then split
off downhill on the Boneyard as the main race loop climbed
Archie's Loop.

as he nears the end of his first loop. Zach gets points
for the team with a 7th place finish. 

Harrison Woodard gets a good finish
with the 10th place position in 10-12.

Jeremy Croall enthusiastically makes
his first UMB race, nailing a nice 12th.

race to nail 1st place.

early morning chill, 90 minutes before the
main race.

Jake Weber cranks through the fir trees,
finishing the race in 8th place.

 Ben Hutchings carves a sharp turn and
gets the 11th place spot in the category.

the end of his second lap. A long steep climb up the
service road and he'll cross the finish line in 7th place.

the 18th place finish in SM 40-plus.

of the downhill on the way to 10th place.

Colleen Tvorik breaks her chain, fixes it,
then breaks it again for a frustrating DNF.

In this race, Mad Dog grabbed the victory with a record-setting number of team points and strong individual performances, taking a big chunk out of our lead in season points. Our UMB racers made some impressive races and earned a respectable number of points, but there just weren't enough of us at this race. It was a great race -- a beautiful day, terrific trailside scenery, and a good after-race picnic. Looking forward to the next one. That's 7 great races done, only 5 more to go.
