Bordertown Challenge
Pequop Ranch, Nevada, July 29, 2006
In a
combined Wild Rockies and Intermountain Cup event, team UMB headed through
Wendover into the wilds of Nevada. This was a tough race, but ultimately satisfying. The average temperature during the race was 91 degrees. The sport
loop was long and tough, 21.3 miles with 2700 total feet of climbing. The
climbs were hot and mean, one after another. The trail was dusty and loose
-- for two miles after the "shotgun start" of the sport class,
only the tips of sagebrush and the head of the rider in front could be
seen through the gray cloud. A worthy challenge, indeed. |
