Wheeler Creek Trail
Wheeler Creek Trail is a popular trail close to Ogden. The trail melts out early in the spring, so the lower section can be ridden by late April to early May. The upper section becomes snow-free by early June. The first section of the trail from Ogden Canyon (Wheeler Trailhead) to the Snow Basin Road (Art Nort Trailhead) follows an old road. This section is rocky but not technical, with a steady uphill grade. This section is generally called "Wheeler Trail," while the second section is named the "Wheeler Creek Trail," but is often called the "Maples Trail" by locals.

At the parking area where the Wheeler Creek Trail reaches the Snow Basin Road, the singletrack portion of the trails heads towards Snow Basin. Find the trail on your right. Ride uphill 1.8 miles to the upper trailhead.
The second 3.2 miles is dirt singletrack through aspens, oak brush, and meadows, and will be snowbound until June. This section begins at the Art Nord Trailhead and ends at the Maples Trailhead near Maples Campground.
The Wheeler Creek Trail can be used as part of a small loop with Middle Fork and East Fork (East Fork Loop), or a big loop with East Fork, Green Pond, and Strawberry Express (Maples Loop). Please see pages specific to those routes for riding instructions

Wheeler Trail MapGetting there: From I-15, take the Ogden 12th Street exit (U-39). Continue east on U-39 to Ogden Canyon. 11 miles after leaving the freeway, you'll note a small road on the right just as the highway climbs up to the dam of Pineview Reservoir. The parking area is about 100 feet down the road. Trailhead GPS N 41° 15.168' W 111° 50.511'. Intersection of trail with Snow Basin Road and Wheeler Creek Trail is GPS N 41° 14.007' W 111° 49.197'.
