Looking west down the trail.
Jumps and Ladders
a.k.a. Dinotrax DH
This DH trail is located along the road to the dinosaur track hike, just north of Red Fleet Reservoir in the Vernal area. There's about 1/2 mile of DH run as of September 2007. I spotted it from the road and took a spin down, passing a shiny shovel and freshly-turned dirt. (Update November 07: A teeter-totter, steps, ladders and other goodies were added in the next two months. The fun zone is now about 3/4 mile of stunts.)

We're in a series of dirt jumps as the trail plunges down the mountain.
Armored jump (the mudstone is the takeoff point) with a wooden landing zone over the wash.
Wooden feature.
Wooden gap-jump over the wash. (I would have done it, but I had to slow down to take the picture.
Yeah, that's it.)
In the background, you've got the option of another launch-ramp or sneak across the 2x10 to cross the wash.

How's that for a gap jump? From the lip, it's about 25 feet to the opposite side. I'm taking
the photo from the safety of the B-line trail option.
This is major awesome stuff. While many of the stunts are for elite-level experts, there are plenty of easier options and fun stuff for the rest of us.

Gap jump
Bridge followed by a sidewall ride in the turn, then an upslope perfect for air.
Getting there:
In Vernal on US-40 (the main drag), turn north on US-191. Drive to mile 10.7 and turn right at the paved road signed "Red Fleet Dinosaur Trackway." Drive uphill 0.6 miles. At the top of the hill, turn left onto a dirt road and immediately park in the wide area on the left. The trail starts on the south side of the road.

Bathroom:
