Slippery when Wet. Slippery When Wet is an upper-intermediate loop trail, reached either directly from the McCoy Flat trailhead, or via Retail Sale. The loop itself is about 5 miles. Season March through November.

Smith Creek Lakes. High altitude ATV-track ride to glacial cirque lakes from Francis Peak. Fairly short, intermediate technical. Option of long climb by including Francis Peak road. Season July through September.

Smo' Joes Loop. 7-mile loop with minimal climbing on the mesa north of Price. Uses Knott Pete's Rim and Luke's Trail to form loop. Season March through November.

Snowbird Resort Cross-country. Little Cottonwood Canyon resort offers two short loops that include singletrack, or major-vertical ride on the tram road. Longer loop and tram road have very steep climbs. Option of riding tram to mountaintop for descent. Season July through September.

Snowbird Big Mountain Trail. Intermediate-tech trail descends from Hidden Peak tram down to Snowbird base, 7.5 miles with 3000 vertical. Downhill-only after 11 a.m., to climb start before 8-9. Reached via tram for fee; climb lift road. Season July through September.

Solamere Loop. Climb up and drop down three hills, run around a 4th, play on countless switchbacks. Views over Deer Valley, Jordanelle. Upper-intermediate technical, stiff climbing in three sections. Season June through September.

Soldier Hollow. Olympic cross-country ski venue with summer mountain biking on ski paths. Easier technical. Multiple possible trail combinations, climbing varies. Fee required. Solitude Resort Loop (Big Cottonwood). Narrow singletrack loop, with a bit of doubletrack in the middle, forming a wide circle through Solitude's ski runs in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Moderate climb, upper-intermediate to advanced technical. Views over Big Cottonwood. Season mid-June through September.

South Canyon. Easier but unexciting loop ride from the Promontory trailhead, uses part of the Rail Trail then the South Canyon singletrack trail. 6 and 9-mile options with about 500 feet of climbing. Season late May through mid-November.
