Salt Lake City Area Trails

Albion Basin. At Alta ski resort, a broad gravel road climbs Albion Basin. Climbing is mild, but may be taxing due to the altitude. Beautiful, good for family rides and beginners. Season July through September.
Alexander Creek. This is a singletrack hill-climb from the golf course at Little Dell along Alexander Creek up to the top of Parley's Canyon. Moderate climb, easy-intermediate technical.
Bald Mountain-Little Dell Loop. Loop up the Mormon Pioneer Trail, over the first half of Parley's Great Western on Bald Mountain, then down a ridge past Little Dell, exiting on the Alexander Creek Trail. Season June to mid-October. Upper-intermediate technical, extensive climbing, long ride.
Bald Mountain Backside Loop (Parley's Great Western). This is a rough up-and-down ridgeline ride from Big Mountain Pass to the area above Parley's Summit, down to Jeremy Ranch, looping via the East Canyon Road to climb up Little Emigration Canyon. Season June to mid-October. Upper-intermediate technical, extensive climbing, very long ride.
Bobsled (BST). This is an insanely fun downhill rock 'n roll from the Bonneville Shoreline trail down to the avenues in Salt Lake. Season mid spring to late fall. Upper-intermediate technical, moderate climbing.
Bonneville Shoreline Trail - northern SLC. Mix of doubletrack and singletrack from City Creek around to Emigration Canyon, following the shoreline of prehistoric Lake Bonneville, just above the valley. Season early spring (sometimes winter) to late fall. Easy technical, moderate climbing.
Bonneville Shoreline - southern SLC. Singletrack from Willow Park near Little Cottonwood Canyon to Corner Canyon Road in Draper. Runs along the side of the mountain a few hundred feet above the valley floor. Intermediate technical, a couple of tough spots. Not much climbing. Season early spring to late fall.
Bonneville Shoreline - Draper. Singletrack along South Mountain in Draper, around 5 miles in length. Riding options include loop rides using Oak Hollow and Spring Hollow trails. Intermediate technical, a couple of tough spots. Not much climbing. Season early spring to late fall.
Butterfield Canyon. Long hill-climb to a view over the Bingham Canyon copper mine. Part pavement, part gravel road. Very significant climb, easier technical, but downhill on loose gravel and rock requires good control. Season May through November.
Clark's Trail. A quick out-and-back hill climb and fun descent, or part of a bigger ride using Ghost Falls, Bonneville Shoreline, or Corner Canyon. Foothill area in southern Draper. One-way it's 1.6 miles with 750 feet of elevation gain. Season May through October.
Corner Canyon (Lower). A nice ride close to civilization. Multiple different ride options. Winter figure-8 loop can be ridden in snow (2.8 miles, 350 feet elevation gain). Season year-round, but please do NOT ride when trails are muddy. (Early morning in winter is great when the ground is frozen!)
Desolation Lake (Upper Mill Creek). Climb up the Great Western Trail through upper Mill Creek Canyon, then onto the Wasatch Crest to Desolation Lake. Cool forested singletrack ride, great views. Significant climb, intermediate technical. Season July through September.
Dog Lake. (Big Water Trail)  A Must-Ride Classic! Classic canyon climb, suitable for newcomers, from upper Mill Creek Canyon to Dog Lake. Moderate climb on singletrack, intermediate technical, not too long. Forested switchbacks. Season July through September.
Draper Race Loop. (Includes Clarks Trail) Nine mile intermediate-technical loop with about 1200 feet of climbing. About 4 miles of gravel road, otherwise singletrack, mostly forested. Season May through November.
Ghost Falls. (Includes Clarks Trail and Traverse Ridge Pipeline routes) Fun early season route, close to civilization. Classic loop is short (under 4 miles) with 700 feet of climbing. Clarks route offers 1200 feet of climbing in a beautiful big loop of about 5 miles. Mostly singletrack, mostly forested. Season May through November.
Little Cottonwood Creek A Must-Ride Classic! Broad singletrack follows the old pipeline route along Little Cottonwood Creek, from the mouth of the canyon up to the ruins. Significant climb, but not too long. Intermediate technical with a few rough sections. Season May through November.
Little Mountain to Killyun Canyon Loop. Singletrack loop at the top of Emigration Canyon, follows ridge of Little Mountain towards Lookout Peak, then drops down Killyun Canyon. Moderate climbing. Intermediate technical, descent in Killyun has some tricky sections. Season late May through October.
Lookout Peak - Big Mountain Loop. Long advanced-technical loop includes Mormon Pioneer Trail, then goes up Big Mountain and over to Lookout Peak. Very long climb, strenuous. Sections of tech tree-dodging, rock-surfing. Season late June through September.
Mill Creek Pipeline Popular beginner-level trail!  Singletrack follows the old pipeline route in Mill Creek, mostly flat riding with one section of switchbacks having about 600 ft altitude change. Goes to viewpoint overlooking SLC. Suitable for newcomers, easy to intermediate technical. Season March through November.
Mill D North Fork. Somewhat technical singletrack, usually used as a downhill from the Wasatch Crest. Out-and-back to Desolation Lake has substantial climb, upper-intermediate technical. Season mid-June through September. 
Mormon Pioneer Trail. Also called Donner Trail. Singletrack climbs from Mountain Dell in Parley's Canyon to Big Mountain pass. Intermediate technical, moderate climb. Season May through October.
Snowbird Resort. Little Cottonwood Canyon resort offers two short loops that include singletrack, or major-vertical ride on the tram road. Longer loop and tram road have very steep climbs. Option of riding tram to mountaintop for descent. Season July through September. 
Solitude Resort Loop. Narrow singletrack loop, with a bit of doubletrack in the middle, forming a wide circle through Solitude's ski runs in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Moderate climb, upper-intermediate to advanced technical. Views over Big Cottonwood. Season mid-June through September. 
Stansbury Island Mountain Bike Trail. Narrow singletrack climbs over rocky mountain on the Great Salt Lake's Stansbury Island. Significant climb, intermediate to advanced technical. Views overlooking west, south, and east. Lower altitude, southern exposure dries quickly after storms. Season February through December. 
Traverse Ridge. This is a nice stiff uphill that's open fairly early in the season, climbing from Draper's rodeo arena to Traverse Ridge. Some steep turns on the downhill make this advanced-intermediate technical. Moderate climbing. Season April through November.
Wasatch Crest Trail A Must-Ride Classic! Classic ride from the top of Big Cottonwood Canyon down into Mill Creek Canyon. Initial brutal climb to reach the crest, then a long downhill cruise. Intermediate technical with one short (walkable) section of extreme technical and a few short advanced technical stretches. Requires shuttle vehicle. Season July through September.
Yellow Fork. Singletrack loop through the southern Oquirrh foothills, starting in Rose Canyon. Forested climb to view of copper tailings and SL valley. Intermediate technical, but with some stiff climbing. Option of easy doubletrack for family picnic. Season late April through November.
