Snowbird Mountain Bout
Little Cottonwood Canyon  -  July 14, 2007

It was a beautiful sunny day at Snowbird. Temperatures were nice overall despite the blistering heat in the valley. Yes, it got a little warm climbing the notorious Dick Bass trail. But it was a great day to be riding in the mountains. Our racer numbers were small, but we earned an impressive ratio of team-points per rider. We fought to a close 2nd behind Revolution. First-place finishes: Justin Griffin, Catherine Reay, Kellie Williams.  Second-place: Stephen Bergen, Bruce Argyle.

on the way to 8th place in BM 30-39.

Evan Christensen carves a turn in the
singletrack, finishing in 9th place.

3rd place in BM 40-plus.

Right:  In her best performance yet as a UMB
racer, Catherine Rea fights through to take
1st place in Beginner Women!

in Sport-Expert 13-15.

Sport/Expert 16-18:

a meadow of wildflowers as she takes another
first place finish! That's two in a row.

begins the big climb, finishing 12th.

On the 'Bird Trail, Casey Jensen cranks

Expert Men 30-39: Men 57-plus:
Left:  Todd Neumarker rolls off the bridge on
the 'Bird Trail, cranking out 4 painful laps to
take 6th in Expert Men 30-39.

Right:  Bruce Argyle gasps for air as he
spins into the big climb, but survives his laps
to take 2nd place in Men 57+.

16 racers wore the UMB colors at Snowbird. For the second week in a row, we set a record for smallest turnout of the season. Yes, it's a tough race, but the setting is very pretty. (Jolene doesn't dare look over her shoulder here, but the views are spectacular!) And who said racing should be easy? We're tough, and the toughest of the tough race at Snowbird.

Thanks to Jay Griffin for taking team photos at Snowbird
